Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi was a French sculptor and painter, born on August 2, 1834, in Colmar. He passed away on October 4, 1904, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Bartholdi is perhaps best known as the creator of the Statue of Liberty.
His life coincided with significant historical events, including the Franco-Prussian War. He received his education at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand, a prestigious institution in Paris.
