Augustus Pugin

Augustus Pugin was a British architect, designer, and art historian best known for his association with the Palace of Westminster and, controversially, Big Ben.

Augustus Pugin was a human born on March 1, 1812, in Bloomsbury. He was a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and passed away on September 14, 1852, in Ramsgate. His education included time at Christ’s Hospital, and he studied under Jean-Baptiste Bethune.

Pugin is recognized as an architect, although this is a disputed designation. He also worked as an art historian and designer, also disputed roles. His work is notably associated with the Palace of Westminster.

While the association is disputed, Pugin is also linked to Big Ben.
